Hi, I'm Emma
Project manager. Parent. Expat living in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually turned into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Netherlands wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Everyday tasks seemed tougher than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of learning on the job. But over time, routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Prairieink Span
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a sincere, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Netherlands.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Netherlands
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Netherlands continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Amsterdam or anywhere in Netherlands, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Emma
